Further to yesterday’s post on del.icio.us David Muir pointed me to his excellent guide to del.icio.us. While it assumes your browser is Internet Explorer, it is the sort of guide I could give my mum, so I’ll forgive that. It’s a great introduction, explanation and exploration that answers the question, “why use del.icio.us?”
David is a lecturer in the Educational Computing division in the Jordanhill Campus of the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. So it’s good to see educators making these sorts of guides available.

Thanks for the good review of my guide. So far the only criticisms I’ve had are that it assumes that you are using Windows and that I use Internet Explorer. The irony is that I am a Mac user and my browser of choice is Firefox! With the exception of the screenshots, the whole guide was prepared on a Mac.
However, I was writing it for the teachers I work with and most have Windows machines in their schools. Also, almost without exception, the only browser they are allowed to have installed in school is Internet Explorer. So…
Anyway, I hope your mum likes the guide, and on the assumption that she reads your blog… hello Paul’s mum!

I find it amazingly cool that you wrote it on a Mac and firefox. That’s one of the fun things about blogging. You write for your audience.
And yes I appreciate the restrictions placed on work/educational environment computers. I have a client that has IE for it’s standard build. We all agree to move to Firefox, but can’t do it until the next build cycle.
I’ll see how she likes it. She doesn’t read this blog often yet. She’s getting her own going so hopefully she’ll catch up soon.
